Full dentures or “plates” are a solid prosthesis that replaces all of your teeth in one arch (upper or lower jaw.) They rest directly against your gum tissues, creating a seal. Full dentures are used when you no longer have remaining teeth, or plan to have them extracted.

A partial denture replaces several teeth at once but fits around the healthy teeth that you’re able to retain. Partials are slimmer than full dentures, since they use clasps (that wrap around your other teeth) to secure themselves in place.
