A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit. Our dental exams are not rushed and are a detailed, thorough examination that may include the following:

• Intra oral photographs
• Diagnostic x-rays (radiographs) which are essential for detection of decay, bone loss or any other bony anomalies.
• Oral cancer screening
• Evaluation of your gum for any signs of periodontal/gum disease
• Examination of tooth decay
• Examination of existing restorations

Getting regular cleans done by your dentist helps your gums and teeth stay healthy. We often use ultrasonic scalers to gently remove any stains, plaque or calculus (hardened plaque). The water supply in our dental chair has been customized such that the water coming in through is warm thereby reducing teeth sensitivity with most procedures.

Our scaling appointment is usually followed by fluoride treatment to help make your teeth more resistant to decay.

Remember, fluoride alone will not prevent tooth decay! It is important to brush at least twice a day, floss regularly, eat balanced meals, reduce sugary snacks, and visit your dentist on a regular basis.
